Three days in Paris
Posted on Saturday, May 05 @ 15:52:15 CEST by Adam

Holidays I was in Paris again, and unlike last time, it was a holiday trip rather than business, so I got to hang around during daytime and look at all the touristy things. While I did hang around with the local colleagues in the evenings, I went primarily to visit my bro who is doing an exchange semester there. My mom and gramps were also there.

I stayed at probably the crappiest hotel room I've ever slept in. It was booked innocently over the internet, and with a name like "Grand Hotel du Paris" and a rather average per-night fee, one assumes a certain minimum level of quality. Instead the building looked like it could collapse at any moment. The floor was not quite horizontal so I had to prop up the bed with some mags so I wouldn't roll off. Fortunately I was rather intoxicated every night when I finally turned in so I slept like a sack of potatoes (I don't say 'baby' cause I have a feeling babies don't sleep very well -- not that I have any experience in that regard, fortunately) regardless. And thats the only thing that counts in the end.

Here are a few select photos:

Two photos inside the Notre Dame, with different exposure settings (this is with my Canon S50 which lets one adjust everything):

A Notre Dame detail, and my bro in front of the Louvre:

The pantheon, inside and out:

Here is the posh apartment my colleagues get to stay in (compare + contrast with my hotel room!)

If you are ever under the Eiffel tower, remember that there is an AA battery only about 10 cm away from rolling off this ledge and most likely tunneling vertically through your entire body before hitting the pavement:

More Eiffel tower detail plus my mom and gramps in a cafe:
