Geneva Auto Salon
Posted on Thursday, March 22 @ 23:44:39 CET by Adam

Holidays

I got invited to go with Balazs, Eszter, Monika, Kinga and Hajni to go see the city of Geneva on Saturday, as well as the Geneva Auto Salon on Sunday. We stayed in the city overnight. Saturday evening we met up with our french friend Olivier who gave us a little tour of the city center, and invited us for an excellent dinner with his family. From a culinary perspective, Geneva (or rather, Nyon, where we ate) is closer to Paris than to Zurich, which is a very good thing.

On Sunday we spent the entire day wading through the enourmous crowds at the auto salon to oogle at fine automobiles. Here are some photos:

Here is our group, minus Monika (shown above) who has wandered off. Olivier, the dude sporting the massive digicam is a pro photographer.

The fountain on the lake must shoot up about 50 meters high! The weather was not warm enough to dare take a shower.

Here we are checking out some architecture.

A brooding monk.

There was a playground full of funny interactive metal constructions for children to play with.

A classic. Richard used to have one if these.

A detail of a Viper. Unfortunately I only took my tiny cam along which had trouble making good photos of the cars. But perhaps more skill and a steadier hand would have compensated.

The Dodge Viper from the inside.

The Dodge Demon from 3 angles:

While this does look very sleek, I was more fond of the Mercedes designs from the 90's.

An interior...

...and a detail:

The highly touted Maybach, somewhat underwhelming:

The new BMW M3, this one is for MrElusive:

This Peugeot looked wicked, too back the photo sucks:

A white Peugeot 207 cc cabrio. Reminiscent of the black one Emily and I took on our road trip last year. If I were to buy a car now, this is probably what I'd get.

Not sure what this was, but it looks sweet.

The dash of the new Honda Civic. Looks totally space-age, inside and out. Has nothing to do with the old Civic my Dad had in Boston, that I learned to drive on.

This is called a 'Stola' and is supposedly very limited edition.

The boys at the office would be envious of this six player foosball table.

The Chinese are coming, and they are bringing their SUVs!!

A rather senseless creation, this rinspeed reminded me of the i-mac.

Lada's not dead! My grandfather may want to consider upgrading to the newest latest from across the Volga.

Oh wait, I think this is the newest latest!

This looks slick:

A Wiesmann Roadster:

And its lizard-logo:

I may be biased, but to me this is just a motorcycle that doesn't lean. What's the point??

A Fiat Roadster, only to be driven by those with great legs.

A custom Ford Mustang. Nice color.

I love American cars.

An italian with wings.

Another italian!

A somewhat excessive portal mechanism.

This Lambo says, 'bye, that's all, folks!'
