She is back online!

Today I have awakened my heavy metal mistress from her winter beauty sleep. It took me an hour plus a call to the bike shop to expose the dead batteries, which I then proceeded to charge for an hour with a charging device I bought. I was quite relieved when the engine jumped on after that, though it took another five minutes of idling until irregularities in the ignition pattern went away and the motor ran smoothly. Surprisingly the oil level was still fine after five months of being stashed away. I'll still have to check the tire pressure but otherwise we're just about ready to ride into the spring.
Still right afterwards Jerome and I contemplated an act of infidelity. The Yamaha Tricker has caught both of our eyes, and today we went to to test ride it. Unfortunately the tricker is but 250cc, meaning I can't use it during my next attempt of class A ('big bike') license exam.
We also tested the BMW 650 GS, a bland, beginner friendly enduro I am sympathizing with solely for its merits as an easy license exam-bike. In the end I doubt I will buy one. It looks like I will keep the Triumph, and eventually rent the BMW for the test. The rationale being that while I can do all the tricks required with the Triumph (see video proof), it is too unwieldly and temperamental to perform them absolutely reliably unless I spend much more time practicing -- and I'd rather spend my time going on tours.
